What is a punch list?

A punch list is the list of remaining or deficient items a contractor must complete or correct before a project is considered finished.

Near the end of a job, the owner or architect walks the work and notes anything incomplete or not to standard. Each item is tracked from open to verified and closed.

An empty, signed-off punch list is one of the conditions for substantial or final completion.
